The 2015 Hyundai Genesis launch film, *7th Day*, was a sonic odyssey that transcended the car’s physicality to evoke a sense of cosmic renewal. For White Noise Lab, we crafted an immersive audio landscape where the Genesis wasn’t just a vehicle but a vessel for Hyundai’s vision of progress—one that felt alive, yet timeless. The brief demanded a score that mirrored the film’s duality: the mechanical precision of innovation (evident in the car’s design) and the organic pulse of humanity’s future. We layered ambient textures—subtle, evolving harmonics—with synthetic pulses that mirrored the car’s engineering, ensuring every note felt both grounded and boundless. The result was a sonic identity that didn’t just accompany the narrative but *became* it, embedding Hyundai’s ethos into the audience’s perception of mobility itself.
The spatial audio design was pivotal: we used binaural and 3D soundscapes to guide the listener through the film’s journey, from the quiet anticipation of a new era to the explosive climax of Hyundai’s ambition. The Genesis’ launch wasn’t just a moment—it was a sonic rebirth, where every note reinforced the brand’s promise of reinvention. The AI-generated textures (like the shifting harmonic fields) ensured the score felt organic yet meticulously crafted, aligning with Hyundai’s global appeal. The film’s legacy endures not just in its visual spectacle, but in the way sound made the Genesis feel like a leap into the future—one that resonated across cultures and languages.
This project was a masterclass in how sound can elevate a brand’s narrative, turning a car launch into a sonic experience that lingers. The Genesis’ identity wasn’t just about what it drove—it was about what it *sounded* like to the world.
